Pumpkin Man

Once I receive the rest of my Fall/Halloween Merchandise I plan to do a post you show all of you "My Favorite Things" to highlight, well, my favorite things!

But I just couldn't wait to show you this:

Pumpkin Man $4.50
My Pumpkin Man!  Isn't he so freakin' cool!!

Yeah, he is...

He is only 4 inches tall and loves to hang off the sides of bowls:

And, if your not careful; you'll only see him climbing out of the cookie jar:

But, of course, by that time it's too late and all of the treats are already gone!

Check back soon for "My Favorite Things" post; which will include this as well:

Onesies and Bibs by Stitches by Shaylynn

Aren't they so freakin' cute!

Yeah, they are!

Ok, I have to stop now!  Otherwise, there will be no need to do a " My Favorite Things" post!!

It's Fall (part 2)

Well, I finally have the other half of my storefront merchandised to feature our official transformation into Fall!  I had so many new pieces to display, that I needed to put the expansion leaf into my table to make room!  That's the way I like it!  With all of these fun items, it was so hard to settle on one display concept.  But, I am happy to report, I am quite pleased with my decision; take a look!

Does the table display (above) look a little empty to you; compared to the display across the isle (below):?

Yeah, just a little!  But, have no fear.  I'm still waiting on the other half of my Fall/Halloween order!  That's right, this is only HALF of the shipment!!  By this time next week I might have to put supports under the table to keep it from buckling under the weight of all the new merchandise!

Make sure to keep checking back because I'll be keeping you posted!!
And be sure to check out It's Fall at Room 5 (part one) to see even more fun Harvest Items!

10 Great Gift Ideas for Her

Not long ago I posted some ideas for 10 Great Gift Ideas for Him.  And now here is a list that will help every guy find inspiration for a gift for her.  So there can be no excuses that you "didn't know what to get so I just didn't get anything."  Lame, lame lame!!!  And if my husband ever uses that excuse; now that I have published this post, he will be in the doghouse for EVER.  And since we don't have a dog house - his birthday gift will be a dog house... just for him!  And guys, although there is nothing that tops anything sparkly - real sparkles, here are a few less expensive ideas.

Alright, here we go...!

Two's Company Scarf: $19.50
1.  A fashion accessory.  Scarves are very simple, very inexpensive and very in right now.  They can be worn with pretty much anything.  All you have to do is walk into any women's section of any department store and you will receive help almost instantly.  Trust me.  The sales associates are trained from day one that when a man walks into a women's area - by himself - he is most often looking for a gift.  A lot of the associates are working for commission, so they are on the lookout for you.  Just stand there, look confused and you will be walking out with your purchase in no time at all.  And just think, when she showes her trendy new scarf to her girlfriend and tell them you picked it out for her - by yourself (she doesn't need to know about the sales help), her girlfriends will think you are a fashion god!  Don't like the scarf idea?  Go for some chunky bangles (bracelets) or winter gloves - in cashmere.

Glass Photo Frame: $12.50

2.  A picture frame made just for her.  This one from Mud Pie will appeal to any girl.  It has clean lines so it will fit in nicely with any decor - at home or at the office.  Make sure she knows it is just for her by picking one out with her initial etched in to it, or get creative and pick one with the letter "L" for Love, "M" for Mom or "F" for family.  Whichever letter you choose, be sure to slip in a picture that corresponds correctly!

Layered Brick Candle: $21.50

3.  Is she earthy and natural?  Then you should go for a unique candle.  Vance Kitira International has a great collection of green products.  This Layered Brick Candle comes in so many different colors including Coconut Ice, Fern, Amber and Caramel.  They have a great rustic texture and are great as centerpieces adorned with appropriate decor of the season - don't worry, she'll know how to accessorize it.
They are available in 2 sizes: 12" X 2.75" X 3", 4 wick, 24 Hr burn time (shown) and 22.75" X 3.5" X 3.75", 6 wick, 100 Hr burn time.

Sm Caribbean Bowl: $53.00

4  A unique centerpiece for her table.  This blown glass Caribbean Bowl from Cyan Design would look great on any table.  Look for something in her favorite color to make it even better!

Larson Trays
Sm: $76
Lg: $94

5.  A Beautiful breakfast tray.  For you to use when you bring her breakfast in bed!  And she'll love to have it accessorize her ottoman in the living room or her kitchen table.  These Larson Breakfast Trays by Cyan Design are perfect for a functional breakfast in bed, tea service or just a beautiful home accent piece.

Teapot: $21.00
Tea Cups: $6.00

6.  A fun and unique tea set.  Even if we don't drink tea, we love to have this available or just to display behind our glass cabinets.  This teapot by Andrea by Sadek is not your grandmother's teapot.  It has hand painted leaves and a sleek, contemporary look that will bring this old fashion tradition straight into the 21st century with style.  Incorporate these ceramic Hand Sculpted Contempo Tea Cups by Vance Kitira International for a dramatic expression.  You can even add a tea light or votive to the teacups and use them as a spot of warmth and festivity for any table setting.

Natural Slate Placematt/Serving Board: $28.50
Natural Slate Tray/Serving Board: $14.50
Natural Slate Coasters: $16.50

7.  Natural Slate Trays/Coasters by Vance Kitira International.  Room 5 has carried these for quite some time now.  I originally told you about them in my post 10 Great Gift Ideas for Him, but do you know who is buying them?  Women.  Yeah, we think these are cool too!  I think they are freakin' awesome - otherwise I wouldn't have them in my boutique, right?!  They're just awesome.  I love these for a deck or patio table.  They are great for entertaining, goes with any outside decor and most indoor decor - they won't over power any design style.  And you know what tops it off?  These make fantastic candle holders.

Chinese Bamboo Lanterns:
$55, $65, $85 and $129

8.  Bamboo Lanterns.  These will go perfect with your Natural Slate Trays.  Combine these lanterns by K&K Interiors with your Slate Placemats and Coasters and you have a beautiful natural outdoor theme that will totally rock.

White Throw: $145.00

9.  A functional and beautiful throw.  This cream throw by Two's Company is the softest, warmest and most beautiful throw I have ever seen.  The fabric is designed to look like tight rosebuds and is just a soft and the newest flower petals.  But trust me, this isn't your Great Aunt's "floral" decor.  This is the most contemporary "floral" throw I have ever seen.  And you know what?  It's not even "floral!"  Not a single flower to be found.

Marquita Sayres Photography

10.  Vintage Photography.  It's just cool.  And we can find a place for it anywhere:  Guest baths, Bedrooms, Master baths, Dining rooms, Kitchens, Entryways, literally anywhere.  To make it even better:  down load the Hipstomatic app to your phone and get a friend to snap a quick pic of the two of you.  You don't have to go to a professional - remember, "inexpensive" is the key.  Not familiar with this app?  Check it out here.

Happy Shopping!!  And, remember, if you see something here you like, just send me an email and we will take care of you!

Mission Accomplished!

Well, after 10 long days, this is no longer taking over my stockroom!

It has FINALLY turned into this:

But not before I had to wade through hundreds of dollars of this:

$425.75 (104 items) to be exact.  But who's counting... really. Grr

Now, all I have left is this last pile of empty boxes.  But, it will have to be a guest of mine a little longer as I have to wait until next trash day to dispose of these bad boys.  I have overfilled the communal dumpster with the rest of my boxes.  Oops!!

I ordered some great Christmas items and I can't wait till it gets closer to the holidays to set up my displays.

Here is a sneak peek of one of my favorites:

Thank goodness some stuff arrived safely!

More sneak peeks to come, so stay tuned!!

Room 5 To Be Featured In 417 Magazine

Are you ready for this?!  Are you ready?!?!

Room 5 is to be featured in Springfield, Mo's 417 Magazine!! OMG!!!!

To be exact, I (I mean Room 5) will be featured in the Savvy Shopper's section of 417's October issue!  I am so excited!!  I bet you couldn't tell, though - I'm trying to be way cool about it all.  And I just learned that 417 will be featuring me (I mean Room 5) in 417's Home Magazine due out in January of 2011.  Insert high pitched girlie squeal!!!

OK, I'm back.  Well, 417 just wrapped up their photo shoot, which by the way, was a total blast!  The photographer, Ed Biamonte had a very high-tech camera that got some great shots - I'm sure he had a little to do with it too!  Bethany McDonald, the assistant art directer, was very fun and Savannah Waszczuk, who is writing the article, is so sweet!

I kinda knew what would be going down when they got here - I knew they would be taking some shots of the entire store, or at least sections of the store.  And I knew they would be picking out "five things they like" and then would be taking some close-up pics of those items.  I did not know I would be included in these pictures!!  I figured if they did want a picture then it would be a head shot submitted at a later date!  It's a good thing I looked super cute today!!

So what five things did they pick to feature?  Well, let me show you!!

This Bamboo Chinese Lantern by K&K Interiors:

This cluster of Moonbeam Vases by Cyan Design:

This Slipper Chair:

This teapot by Andrea by Sadek and two teacups by Vance Kitira International:

And last, but not least, this Toddler Rocking Chair by Elegant Baby; a Chocolate Cable Knit Teddy Bear, also by Elegant Baby; a Plaid Tie Onesie by Stitches by Shaylynn; and a Plaid Burp Cloth, also by Stitches by Shaylynn:

Here are some pictures I took with my phone of them dressing the bear in the onesie for a 'gag picture' done as a 'gift' for a co-worker:

From left to Right: Savannah Waszczuk, Bethany McDonald and Ed Biamonte

Sorry, I don't have a "high tech" camera so the photographer's face came out kinda blurry!

Setting up the shot:

Getting the Shot:

The very impressive camera:

The close-ups of the merchandise showed above are replica's of how the photographer staged the items for his shots.  I think I did a pretty good job of duplicating his work!!
